I hope everyone out there has a fabulous Easter. Go hunt some eggs for me, that was always my favorite part. I am a little too old for that now, LOL. I have been working hard all day to get some great new goodies ready for Etsy. I will have some baby and wedding things hopefully going up tomorrow, as well as a couple of new goodie jars. Be sure to check them out. I am off to enjoy an America's Next Top Model marathon as I work. Why are they so addictive? I wish I knew. Chow everyone !!

Hello everyone. Isn't wonderful that the weekend is almost here. I get excited because that is when I can leave my "day job" behind and concentrate on all things crafty. Now don't get me wrong, I love my job and the people I work with, but insurance billing can be a little boring. It can stifle the creative mind !!! I think the goody jar is a big hit. A lot of my etsy friends have been giving such nice feedback on it today. If you haven't checked it out, you really should be a part of etsy. It is such a great community. Chow for now. Oh, I forget to tell everyone how thrilled I am that I get to be an aunt again around November 11. I am keeping my fingers crossed for another girl Amelia !!!

Random Musings on a Rainy Day

What a yucky morning. This would definitely be the day to stay in bed and read. I am jealous of my teacher friends that are off for spring break this week. I am staying busy trying to get together things for the new store. I have a couple of really neat ideas that I will hopefully have up and going by this weekend. Eventually I want to start doing some custom work, like invitations and favors and such. Unfortunately that just takes time. I need to find a way to add and extra day to the week that I don't have to work.

Now, my thoughts on the Easter bunny. I was in the mall on Friday and I noticed the Easter bunny set up by Belks taking pictures with the kids. That was the scariest bunny I have ever seen with his huge plastic head. No wonder kids scream when they sit on his lap. I would scream too. So don't be surprised if your child doesn't cooperate. It was just really bizarre looking.

The story of the name

First the good news. I finally listed some items yesterday in my new etsy store. Ok, so its only 3 items but it is a start. Everyone please go check them out. I am also putting out a post on myspace today to let all my friends know what is going on.

It has occurred to me that people may want to know where the name "purple treasures" comes from. Well, I guess you can thank my girlfriends for that one. Years ago, when I was setting up my ebay account, I couldn't come up with a user name that wasn't already taken. I answered a series of questions about favorite things and favorite colors and it came up with purpletreasures. When the girls found out, they thought it was the funniest thing ever. The car that I drove for over 10 years was purple and the horrid circa 1992 prom dress I wore was also purple. So they of course started referring to both as purpletreasures and so the name stuck. When I was trying to come up with a name for my new business, I just decided to go with something that a lot of people already associated with me.

My First Blog Post !!

Isn't it silly to think I am so nervous about doing this. I have never "blogged" before so this is a totally new experience for me. So please be patient with me. I guess I should begin with my hopes for this blog. I want this to be a place where like minded creative folks can get together and share ideas, tips and inspiration with each other. I am in the process of opening my first etsy shop. I will be selling all sorts of kits for paper crafts and jewelry as well as a few handmade goodies of my own. My mom is also excited about putting some of her cards in too. I can't wait for people who buy my kits to post photos here for the great things they made. I will be adding my own project pictures too. All this is a learning curve for me so it may take me awhile. I am so excited to be here. My prayer is that Purple Treasures can grow and thrive. So here we go !!!
